Join the 1st Annual Turkey Drive
You can help the Food Bank of the Southern Tier provide our neighbors in need with a Thanksgiving meal this year by donating to the 1st Annual Turkey Drive, sponsored by Tioga Downs Casino Racing & Entertainment.
Tioga Downs will generously match up to $20,000 in funds raised to help provide turkeys for hungry families in need. Every $10 donation enables the Food Bank to distribute two turkeys. With your generosity, more families in our community will be able to enjoy a plentiful meal on Thanksgiving Day when we raise funds through the Turkey Drive. You can raise funds with coworkers, friends and family to help the Food Bank ensure everyone has a turkey on their table this Thanksgiving.

Volunteers Moving Food To Those
in Need at a Record Pace!
Through July of 2010, Food Bank volunteers have sorted and repacked 67% more bulk food than the same period in 2009. It is clear, we could not accomplish what we do without the help of our volunteers. If you are interested in volunteering to repack food, join our 9th Annual Hunger Challenge Volunteer Program. This national award winning program, initiated by the Junior League of Greater Elmira-Corning, challenges volunteer individuals and groups to repack bulk food for distribution to neighbors in need. Volunteers also repack bags of nutritious, kid-friendly food items for the BackPack Program™ as needed.

Wegmans 3rd Annual Fill the Bus Campaign To Benefit the BackPack Program™
The 3rd Annual Fill the Bus Campaign will take place September 10th through September 24th, and will once again benefit the Food Bank's BackPack Program™. Last year, nearly 13,000 pounds of food was collected during the 2nd Annual Fill the Bus Campaign.
Watch for the yellow school buses parked in front of Southern Tier Wegmans stores in Corning, Elmira, Hornell, Ithaca and Johnson City. Wish lists and in store signage will be available to help shoppers purchase select items distributed through the program. Donations will be collected inside Wegmans stores and transported to the Food Bank at the end of the campaign by area school buses. All donations stay in the Southern Tier.
