MOBILIZING FAITH COMMUNITIES
What is Mobilizing Faith Communities?
This program seeks to engage faith-based youth groups in the fight against hunger and poverty in the Southern Tier.
Within the Food Bank of the Southern Tier's network of over 160 member agencies over 80% of these organizations are faith-based. Beyond this, many or our volunteer groups come to us from local churches committed to service.

Which Faith Communities Does This Program Target?
The Just Neighbors program is an interfaith curricula is geared toward Christian communities of faith. Each lesson also includes a Catholic Social Teaching supplement that is specifically targeted toward Catholic congregations, reflecting the Food Bank’s role as a regional agency of Catholic Charities. Jewish communities will find some elements of the curriculum useful. We deeply respect and recognize the immense efforts across diverse faith traditions to address social inequality. The Christian focus of our Mobilizing Faith Communities program reflects the demographics of our community. We warmly welcome any group who is interested in building a similar set of lesson plans around hunger and poverty from the perspective of their faith tradition to contact us!
