The Food Bank of the Southern Tier has received $5,000 from the Douglas G. Anderson–Leigh R. Evans Foundation to support the distribution of food to those in need of assistance in Chemung County. This grant will help provide 15,000 meals in Chemung County.
In 2018, the Food Bank of the Southern Tier distributed 2.2 million meals in Chemung County. More than 11,000 Chemung County residents are living at or below the federal poverty line and may experience food insecurity. That’s one in eight adults, and one in five children.
