Census data and food insecurity

As the 2020 Census officially rolls out this week, anti-hunger advocates are encouraging everyone in their communities to complete the survey, including and especially populations at risk for food insecurity. The census is the basis for many social safety net program funding decisions as well as representation in government, which can directly impact these programs.

Census data can help hunger relief organizations like the Food Bank find gaps in services and determine how to best meet the need of residents in each county. Learn more in this piece from the Food Research and Action Center.
