The Ithaca-based Triad Foundation is continuing its long-term support for the Food Bank of the Southern Tier.
A recent $20,000 grant will provide general operating support for the Food Bank’s programs. In 2018, the Food Bank distributed 9.5 million meals throughout its service area which includes Tompkins, Broome, Chemung, Schuyler, Steuben and Tioga counties. More than 18,500 people are served each week.
In Tompkins County, 1.2 million meals were delivered through collaboration with 21 partner agencies and direct service provided by the Food Bank’s Mobile Food Pantry and its child hunger programs, including the BackPack Program and Kids’ Farmers Market.
The Triad Foundation’s endowment comes from the estate of media executive Roy H. Park, and is led by Roy H. Park, Jr. and his family. Since 2003, the Triad Foundation has donated over a quarter of a million dollars to the Food Bank.
