What is a Community Food Distribution?
The Food Bank holds a food distribution directly from our warehouse twice a year. This is a drive-through distribution meaning that clients stay in their cars and volunteers pack the vehicles with food and other grocery items. Each family represented in the car will receive a wide variety of items available that day such as fresh produce, dairy items, proteins, and snacks. Items do vary each distribution. The same amount of food will be distributed to each family. First come, first served.
- Each family must be represented by at least one person (18 years or older) in the vehicle
- Walkers are welcome from 9:45 - 10 am only. Please check in at the front door. Once vehicles begin to move through, we cannot accomodate walkers.
- Volunteers are not eligible to receive food before, during, or after their shift.
2018 CFD Schedule
Each event is held from 10 am to noon at the Food Bank of the Southern Tier: 388 Upper Oakwood Avenue, Elmira, NY 14903. Pre-registration is not required. First come, first served. Each family will receive the same amount of food.
New This Year A better experience and more services! We are hosting only two Distributions this year to focus on providing better quality foods, making more options and items available, and connecting you with more services from other agencies and Food Bank programs.
