The 2022 Jack Balinsky Charity & Justice Award

This scholarship award is given annually to an individual within the Food Bank’s network of hunger-relief agencies & partners that embodies the Catholic Social Teaching principle of Two Feet of Love in Action. This foundational tool describes two distinct, but complementary, ways we can put the Gospel in action in response to God’s love: social justice (addressing systemic, root causes of problems that affect many people) and charitable works (short-term, emergency assistance for individuals)

Nominations will be solicited from current Food Bank agencies and partners in good standing. Nominees can be a volunteer or paid staff who demonstrates a commitment to meeting immediate needs through direct service as well as addressing the root causes of poverty and hunger through advocacy & public policy.

Award winners will receive a plaque, an invitation to attend the National Anti-Hunger Policy Conference in DC as a guest of the Food Bank, $500 Line of Credit for their agency, recognition at annual Agency Celebration, announcement on FBST social media, and blurb on website.
